Being raised by Italian and German immigrant parents influenced not only my work, but my life. My grandfather was an antique dealer specializing in Baroque furniture and paintings. My mom followed in his steps and was also an interior designer- our house was their place of business. I saw a lot of amazing artwork come and go- home was a museum. My dad collected antique pipes, meerschaum mostly- little sculptures in their own right.
Along with art classes, I worked in a friend’s antique shop repairing, researching, and restoring art of every kind. I painted my first mural for the shop owner and truly enjoyed it. Almost without knowing it, I was developing an eye for quality, authenticity, historic materials and techniques, craftsmanship, decor and artistry that would serve me a lifetime.
After a year of Environmental Studies College in Wisconsin, I transferred to and graduated with a BFA in Painting and Art History from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I still tend towards figurative work. I remain thankful for the classical education and training I received there.
Later, I earned a Bachelor’s in Theology too. While studying for it, I met my wonderful husband with whom I have travelled the globe in ministry. For years I coordinated the Design and Display department of an international non-profit organization. We have two amazing sons and recently became empty nesters. Yes!
I have returned to mural painting and still enjoy it. Doing the preliminary research for the work is almost as rewarding as painting! My business is expanding and I have the joy of doing a variety of custom artworks. I truly see how all of life's experiences combine to prepare me for the next project and the next....
It’s a wonderful life!
